Picture Frame & Mount Designer
Welcome to our picture frame and mount designer application. Here you can design your perfect frame and mount combination from our range of over 500 different picture frame mouldings. Basic ordering instructions are detailed below, but for more information about specific application tools please click the help icons above.
- Start Tab - Enter the size of your artwork. Optionally you can upload an image to preview how the finished item will look.
- Mounts Tab - Use this tab to select your picture mount requirements. Whether you decide to use a picture mount is usually down to your own preference, however mounts are commonly used to visually enhance artwork as well as adding conservational properties by spacing the artwork from the glazing. For these reasons EzeFrame always recommend the use of a picture mount. You can select either a single or double mounts by clicking on the mount colours. To remove a mount layer just click the "Delete" button under the mount colours. The width of the top mount layer can be set by entering a width measurement either for each individually border or for all borders. The mount shape can also be set to be rectangle/square or circle/oval.
- Frames Tab - From this tab you can search through hundreds of different picture frame mouldings until you find your perfect frame style. You can narrow the search by selecting one of the colour categories or by using the sort options that allow you to sort by price or width. Our website will also eliminate any frame moulding from the display if it isn't suitable for the size frame you require or if the moulding is out of stock. To select a particular frame just click on the moulding image, or for further information on any particular moulding style just click the icon. Additional information that is available includes the frame width, internal rebate depth, total frame depth, colour, profile style and stock availability.
- Glazing Tab - Select your preferred glazing option.
- Accesories Tab - A range of optional accessories that will help complete your picture frame.
- Review Tab - Review the different framing elements, view the price breakdown and add the item to your shopping basket.
Please follow the simple guidelines and tips below when measuring your artwork.
Always use a proper tape measure, avoid using a fabric tape measure or a ruler.
Measure each dimension twice to double check for errors.
Have a pen and paper handy to note down each measurement.
If you order a frame from us, the frame size will always relate to the internal size of the frame from the back.
It NEVER relates to the visible area from the front of the frame and it NEVER relates to the external size of the frame.
The lip/rebate of the frame will always overlap the glazing and artwork by a few millimetres all round to ensure it doesn't fall out.
I am buying a Picture Frame only....
Measure the physical size of your artwork from outer edge to outer edge, including any white border or existing mount you want to see, for both the width and the height. You would enter those measurements into our custom picture framer application.
We would manufacture your frame so your artwork(including any mount/white border you have included in the measurements) will fit into the opening at the back of the frame.
So if your artwork measures 320 X 470mm, you would enter 320 X 470mm as your frame size - Easy!
I am buying a Picture Frame & Mount...
Measure the exact image size of your artwork from outer edge to outer edge. If your artwork has an existing border that you want to see you would include these in your measurements. If your artwork includes a border that you do not want to see you would not include these in your measurements. The size that your enter will relate to the actual opening size in the middle of the mount.
We will make a small 2mm adjustment to each mount width to ensure the artwork doesn't fall through the middle of the mount aperture.
So if you artwork measures 250 X 190mm, you would enter 250 X 190mm in the size fields. We would manufacture the mount so the actual aperture would be 246 X 186.
The frame size will be calculated by our software and depends on how wide you set the mount widths to be.
Picture Mount Only
If you are purchasing a mount to fit an frame brought elsewhere you need to know the internal frame size(the opening at the back of the frame) as well as the size of your artwork.
Simply enter the exact sizes of your artwork into the size fields on our website. You then have the option to enter the width for each side of the mount, top, bottom, left and right. You will need to calculate manually how wide the mounts need to be to fit your frame opening size.
Please ensure the "External Mount Size" measurements on your order review match the actual opening size of your own frame from the back.
We will make a small 2mm adjustment to each mount width to ensure the artwork doesn't fall through the middle of the mount aperture.. So if you artwork measures 250 X 190mm, you would enter 250 X 190mm in the size fields, we would manufacture the mount so the actual aperture would be 246 X 186. This ensures the artwork doesn't fall through the mount opening.
Replacing an old frame
We strongly recommend you remove the artwork from the existing frame before attempting to measure the item. However if this is not possible please remember to measure the opening of the current frame from the back. Do not measure the visible area from the front or the external size of the frame as any replacement frame would not fit.
You should measure the exact external size of the existing backing board or glazing and enter those sizes into our website.
Important Tips & Information
The lip/rebate of the frame will overlap your artwork by a few millimetres all round. This means that the actual visible area from the front of the frame will be smaller than the opening of the frame at the back. The amount of overlap varies from moulding to moulding.
We will manufacture your picture frame to be between 1-3mm larger than the sizes quoted on your order confirmation. This allowance ensures the backing and glazing can be removed when fitting your artwork.
We recommend that the back of the frame is taped up to add a professional finish and additional security.

Picture Frame Fitting Instructions
By default, all of our picture frames are supplied complete with everything you need such as the glazing, MDF backing and hanging fixtures for the back of the frame.
Your picture frame will look like this from the rear. Hanging fixtures will be attached to the back of the frame in a bag(fixtures may be grouped together for multiple frames.
To gain access to the inside of the frame you can use a small screw driver to bend back the flexible tabs - you do not need to remove them.
Once you have removed the backing board and cleaned the glazing, you can fit your picture in the frame.
Fit the backing board back into the frame and press down the flexible tabs.
The hanging fixtures either slide over the backing board(on thinner frames) or screw into the wood(as photo). They should be positioned about 1/3rd from top on each sides.
The cord is then suspended through the two hooks and secured. Your picture is now ready to hang.
An aluminium frame components consist of 4 lengths of aluminium moulding, 4 sets of corner brackets, spring clips and hanging clips.
Your picture frame will be assembled on receipt. The first stage of fitting your picture will be to remove the spring clips that will be part fitted at the back.
Step 2 involves slackening off the screws in any two corresponding corner brackets. You do not need to fully remove the screw.
With the two screws slackened off, one piece of the aluminium moulding can be extracted. This will give you access to the inside of the frame.
You can now remove the backing board and fit your picture. The glazing may be cleaned with a soft anti static cloth. The backing board will then be refitted.
The piece of aluminium moulding can be refitted. Please ensure the corner is held firmly together before tightening the screws.
The spring clips need to be refitted in the space between the backing board and moulding. Push them firmly until they are hidden.
The hanging clips will clip into the back of the frame, one either side and about one third from the top. Tigthen the screw to ensure there is no movement.
The hanging cord can be secured between the two hanging brackets. Your picture is now ready to hang on the wall.
